IMPORTANT: UAW Strike May Impact UCLA Deliveries (Vendor Communication)

The following communication was sent on June 3 to registered UCLA vendors.

Possible delivery service disruptions / delays may occur at some University of California (UC) locations due to campus strikes or work stoppages.

United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 4811, which represents 48,000 UC employees across all 10 campuses, has authorized an Unfair Labor Practice strike. More details can be found on UC’s UAW News & Updates web page.

How Does This Impact Me?

During the strike:

  • Campus deliveries may experience delays or disruptions. Please work with your campus customers to pre-order or maintain adequate stocks of all critical products.
  • Access to campus delivery locations (loading docks, labs, offices, etc.) could be impeded.
  • Third-party delivery services may be unable to make deliveries due to logistical issues, safety concerns, or their own labor policies.

While we have not yet seen any significant impacts associated with this strike, we are monitoring the situation closely and will update you as more information is available.

Support

Please attempt to resolve any UCLA delivery / delay issues directly with your UCLA customers. If escalation is needed, please contact UCLA’s Strategic Sourcing Manager Ty Haubrich.

We greatly appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate this sensitive situation.

Sincerely,

O.T. Wells II
