Overview
Community partners are local organizations, philanthropists, and businesses that help address community needs and drive social change. They can be health professionals, non-profit community-based organization staff, community institution representatives (e.g., schools, religious institutions), and community advocates.
Community partner transactions refer to services provided by these individuals or organizations. Activities may include:
- A non-academic community member guest speaking or serving on a panel
- A community-based organization facilitating community-engagement learning opportunities
Community partner transactions do not apply to:
- Honorarium payments to individuals of scholarly standing for academic activities, including:
- Lectures or seminars / workshops
- Guest speaking engagements
- Appraisal of a manuscript submitted to a professional publication
- Exceptional requests for distinguished teaching or special service
- Consulting service payments
- Payments linked to a defined scope of work for professional services
- Research participant payments
- Payments to faculty or staff
Vendor Registration
Community partners are vendors and must register in PaymentWorks before completing services for UCLA. Unlike other vendors, community partners are listed under the fulfillment addresses of a single BruinBuy Plus vendor profile (“Community Partners"; VCK 105962).
NOTE: A vendor’s Community Partner designation is based on their Employer Identification Number (EIN) – UCLA does not control this designation.
Transacting in BruinBuy Plus
Community partner transactions are initiated through the relevant BruinBuy Plus form. Like any other transaction, the form type and required supporting documentation are dependent on the service provided by the community partner.
NOTE: The following BruinBuy Plus forms do not support Community Partner transactions: ASUCLA Retail Purchase Form, Payment for Shipping Invoice, Non-Cash Gift Request, and Business Contracts.
