UCLA Community Partners

Overview

Community partners are individuals and organizations unaffiliated with academic institutions. They may include individual community members, representatives, and advocates, as well as local non-profit organizations, K-12 schools, religious institutions, and international non-governmental organizations.

Community partner transactions refer to services provided by these individuals or organizations. Activities may include:

  • A non-academic community member guest speaking or serving on a panel
  • A community-based organization facilitating community-engagement learning opportunities

NOTE: For procurement purposes, community partners are referred to as “vendors” in the BruinBuy Plus system.

Community partner transactions do not apply to:

  • Honorarium payments to individuals affiliated with an academic institution, including payments for:
    • Lectures or seminars / workshops
    • Guest speaking engagements
    • Appraisal of a manuscript submitted to a professional publication
    • Exceptional requests for distinguished teaching or special service
  • Consulting service payments
  • Payments linked to a defined scope of work for professional services
  • Research participant payments
  • Payments to faculty or staff

Vendor Registration

Like all vendors, community partners must register in PaymentWorks before completing services for UCLA. They will self-attest to their Community Partner designation during the registration process.

Review the Vendor Registration Training web page for additional information and resources.
